Wilu's paper: CHD and cholesterol chapter 1

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background

The case of coronary heart disease is increasing everyday and it is important for everybody to know the fact that it is not impossible to get Coronary Heart Disease along with its complications nowadays. So, we need to know the reasons why people can suffer the Coronary Heart Disease.
The backgrounds of people who suffered from Coronary heart disease are the following :
First, Tobacco smoke. Smokers’ risk of developing coronary heart disease is 2-4 times than nonsmokers. Cigarette smoking is a powerful independent risk factor for sudden cardiac death in patients with coronary heart disease.

Second, high blood pressure. High blood pressure increases the heart’s workload, causing the heart to thicken and become stiffer. It also increases the risk of stroke and heart attack.
Third, obesity and overweight. People who have excess body fat, are more likely to develop heart disease and stroke even if they have no other risk factors. Excess weight increases the heart’s work. It also raises blood pressure and blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
Fourth, diabetes mellitus. Diabetes seriously increases your risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Even when glucose levels are under control, diabetes increases the risk of heart disease and stroke, but the risk are even greater if blood sugar is not well controlled.
Fifth, physical inactivity. An inactive lifestyle is a risk factor for coronary heart disease. Regular physical activity helps prevent heart and blood vessel disease.
The Last one, high blood cholesterol. As blood cholesterol rises, so does risk of coronary heart disease. When other risk factors are present, this risk increases even more. A person’s cholesterol level is also affected by age, sex, heredity and diet. The incidences of coronary heart disease caused by cholesterol is increasing everyday.
Since Coronary Heart Disease caused by cholesterol is the most common and the most dangerous at this time, I prefer to discuss more about Coronary Heart disease wich caused by high blood cholesterol.

1.2 Problems

In coronary heart disease, the problems we can find are :
Sudden death, Acute myocardial Infarction, Angina pectoris, Heart Failure, Cardiac Arrhythmias, Hypercholesterolemia and Atherosclerosis. These problems are may develop or may present in coronary heart disease.

1.3 Limitation of problems

In this paper, the limitations of the problems are :
- What are Cholesterol and Coronary Heart Disease?
- What can causes Coronary Heart Disease?
- How Coronary Heart disease related to Angina pectoris?
- How does the mechanism of Coronary Heart disease work?
- Who can get the disease?

1.4 Objectives

The objectivities of this paper will be :
- The explanations about Cholesterol and Coronary Heart disease
- The explanation about the causes of Coronary Heart disease
- The explanation about Coronary Heart disease related to Angina pectoris
- The mechanism of Coronary Heart disease
- People who can get Coronary Heart disease
